High demand in the chemical and energy industries

It seems as if Bilfinger has overcome its crisis. The number of incoming orders is growing, which also increases sales, which brings the company back to black figures.

Profits were driven primarily by strong demand in the chemical and energy industries. In total, the company came to a profit of about twelve million euros, said the SDax Group on Tuesday. In the previous year, the loss of the company was about 7 million euros.

Bilfinger was also successful in regular business. From April to June, sales increased by 6 percent compared to the previous year to EUR 1.1 billion. Revenues even increased by ten percent. With an increase of 15 percent, order intake rose to 1.1 billion euros. After a minus of 43 million euros in the previous year, the operating profit currently amounts to 12 million euros. Risk provisions for old projects in the USA, however, had a strong impact on the result.

Bilfinger confirmed the full-year targets. For this year, an increase in the operating result in the medium to high double-digit millions is expected. In addition, the company has set itself the goal of increasing order intake by a mid-single-digit percentage. Compared to 2017, sales are expected to increase slightly or remain stable at 4.04 billion euros.
