New competitor for Flixbus
Since Monday, the French company Blablacar offers long-distance buses on five routes. Thus, there is now another competitor on the long-distance bus market. The new competitor of Flixbus exists under the name Blablabus. According to Blablacar, ten more destinations will be added in July.
In addition, the company advertises that customers can book journeys from 99 cents upwards during the launch. The company’s promise is: “More dynamism in competition and greater choice in the German long-distance bus market”.
By the end of the year, around 40 destinations shall be operated in Germany, a total of 400 throughout Europe. Christian Rahn, head of Germany at Blablacar, is of the opinion that the combination of long-distance buses and car-sharing opportunities can offer “new advantages and services”.
The first connections lead from Frankfurt am Main via Leipzig to Berlin, from Dresden to Berlin, from Hamburg to Bremen, from Berlin to Munich or Düsseldorf and from Hamburg to Düsseldorf. Other destinations available as of July will be Stuttgart, Münster, Karlsruhe and Mannheim.
Like the market leader Flixbus, Blablabus cooperates with local bus companies.
