Part of Lidl’s top management

Roman Heini, former CEO of Aldi-Süd in Germany, will now work for competitor Lidl. The 42-year-old held the position of Head of the Board of Directors at Aldi-Süd in 2015. He was responsible for the coordination of the German regional companies. He also worked on modernizing the discounters and opening up the family business.

Two years later, in March 2017, Heini left his position with immediate effect. There was no statement on the reasons for his departure at that time. Since Heini worked for Aldi in various management positions at home and abroad, his departure was a surprise for many.

From October on, Heini will be a member of Lidl’s top management, where he will act as divisional director for countries. In the course of this he will get to know and support the business of the Lidl foreign companies. Lidl CEO Jesper Hojer is delighted and sees Heini as a “valuable addition”.

Klaus Gehrig had previously moved from Aldi to Lidl as well. Meanwhile, Gehrig has become the head of the entire Schwarz Group. Even at lower hierarchical levels, personnel changes have already taken place between the discounters.
