Study shows experiences with AI
The development of technologies continues to progress. However, many companies are still sceptical about artificial intelligence. But many of the advantages of artificial intelligence are often unknown or not fully exploited. A study by IDC now shows which experiences companies have already had with artificial intelligence.
The number of artificial intelligences used in Germany is constantly increasing. 40% of the companies have already used an AI, 88% want to do so in the next few months. AI should be used especially in IT (34%), as well as in sales and marketing (31%) and also optimize personnel deployment (30%). Everyone can decide whether or not to keep up with the times and use the algorithms for the benefit and support of the company.
In order to ensure that the use of artificial intelligence runs smoothly, the intended benefits of AI should be defined in advance. This is exactly where 47% of the respondents see the main problem. Even more than half of the respondents stated that it was too complicated to introduce an AI model and to qualify the necessary data.
Create comprehensive data sources
AI only works with existing data, allowing it to optimize processes or even design new ones. It is therefore particularly important to create comprehensive data sources. The more information you give the AI, the better the output. It is very important that the collection of information is as automated as possible because it is too time-consuming to do this manually.
Robotic process automation (RPA) proves to be the best entry into the world of AI. Processes in the company run more efficiently and transparently as a result. The technology is also suitable for repetitive processes in IT, customer service and accounting. The use of RPA can already be found among half of the respondents. Other examples of artificial intelligence include chatbots and predictive maintenance solutions.
Companies can either use their AI as on-premises solutions or store them in the cloud. A total of 43% of respondents stated that they use the private cloud in their in-house data center to work with the AI. The model is popular because it gives a sense of protection and is very flexible. 61% of companies load their AI services in a cloud because IT resources can easily be made available here.
But the biggest problem with the IT project is not the German companies, but the lack of experts. As in many other areas, there is also a shortage of skilled workers here. And unfortunately, this will not change in the near future.
Nevertheless, it is worthwhile to invest in the use of artificial intelligence and to train employees. After all, this is the technology of the future.
